Nalan Homestay Khmu Village

Trip Overview:

Explore the Nam Ha National Protected Area, an ASEAN Heritage Site, with a trek through rainforests and streams. Visit the remote Khmu village, awarded the ASEAN Standard of Community-Based Tourism. Learn about local lifestyles, culture, and traditions, and enjoy various tourism activities. Overnight stay in a Khmu homestay.

Itinerary:

  • Day 1: Doiluckkam to Nalan Village (4-5 hours)

    Start: 20 km from Luang Namtha, trek through secondary and upland jungle forests. Lunch: Lao-style picnic in the forest. Afternoon: Arrive in Nalan village, check into your homestay, and explore the village. Evening: Dinner and community activities.

  • Day 2: Nalan Village to Chalernsouk or Namlue Village (3-6 hours)

    Morning: Visit the village and enjoy Lao coffee.

    • Option 1 (3-4 hours): Hike uphill through the forest, lunch on the trail, then descend to Chalernsouk village . 
    • Option 2 (5-6 hours): Hike along the Nam Ha River, through ancient forests and cultivated areas, then descend to Namlue village. Return: Tuk-Tuk back to Luang Namtha. 

    Nalan Homestay:
    All Khmu homestays meet Luang Namtha Homestay and ASEAN Community-Based Tourism standards. Rooms include mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, towels, and outdoor toilets.
